Black Friday is coming up soon, and while every hour you can look at Amazon's ($AMZN) 100 best-selling toys and games, you probably haven't been scraping that data for the last five years around the clock (that's what makes Thinknum Alternative Data so awesome and special). What toys are the hottest gifts for the holidays? Which are the trendiest for 2019? What did you buy your kids last year that are still in demand? We got you covered.

First, let's take a look at the hottest toys from the last few weeks over at Amazon. This is a collection of the highest average rank in the category of 'Toys & Games', over the prime gift-buying period.

From the list we put together last year, you can see lots of similar toys. The massively popular L.O.L. Surprise! Glam Series Dolls were last year's number one go-to gift, are it's still a hot item this year, coming in at #11 as of today.

The following is a list of other rising toys over the last 60 days, and we expect these to be the new hip toys and games to get for children this year: a twerking Santa doll, Fingerlings, lots of LEGO sets, glitter art case coloring sets, Discovery Kids RC Triceratops, NERF Fortnite guns, DIY Slime Kits, UNO Minecraft and UNO Harry Potter, Funko Hello Kitty, Monopoly Game of Thrones, Play-Doh modeling compound sets, Hasbro's Risk and Guess Who, Playskool Mr. Potato Head, Little Tikes Easy Score Basketball set, Kinetic Sand Slime Lab, Sorry!, Hot Wheels 9-car gift pack, Hungry Hungry Hippos, and Candy Land.

We noticed LEGO sets, science kits, goo/slime/playdoh, and board games were very common appearances on the best-selling toys of the last few months. A lot of toys skewed younger, things for toddlers, but that's honestly the prime demographic for the holidays. Tweens and teens just need to download more apps and buy in-game microtransactions for Fortnite, they're easier to please.

This list has been heavily edited because every time we do a list on Gamestop or Amazon video game items, more than 50% of the top 100 are just gift cards and digital currency. So we sorted out the games from best sellers of the last 60, 30, and 15 days because that is a better indicator of what is selling.

Also, who is still buying NCAA Football 14 for the Xbox 360, in 2019, for $70?

About the Data:

Thinknum tracks companies using the information they post online - jobs, social and web traffic, product sales and app ratings - and creates data sets that measure factors like hiring, revenue and foot traffic. Data sets may not be fully comprehensive (they only account for what is available on the web), but they can be used to gauge performance factors like staffing and sales.
