Is the Cheesecake Factory Incorporated ($CAKE) growing its way into a problem?

Analysts tracked by Zacks Investment Research are expecting EPS $0.54 when the company reports earnings Tuesday, October 29. In our first look at the alternative data, we can see below that the more stores are added, the worse the stock price gets. Maybe it's a matter of overexpansion and overspending?

And then we see this all coupled with an increase in the average price on menu items. The all-time highs signal that maybe the company's desperate to earn more of a profit off all those new stores. Or maybe this is all the fault of inflation, which tends to happen, but maybe not as sharply as this chart indicates.

The number of employees listed on LinkedIn (not listed here) is also on a similar trajectory upwards, as job listings are closely tied to the number of stores being added.

To wrap up, here is every single Cheesecake Factory location in America. There's one in Puerto Rico and one in Hawaii, which is cool to see.

About the Data:

Thinknum tracks companies using the information they post online - jobs, social and web traffic, product sales and app ratings - and creates data sets that measure factors like hiring, revenue and foot traffic. Data sets may not be fully comprehensive (they only account for what is available on the web), but they can be used to gauge performance factors like staffing and sales.
