Music has been a welcome reprieve over the last few months as Coronavirus continues to spread and reshape our lives. Amazon’s ($AMZN) CD & Vinyl best-sellers for April suggest people were in the mood for classic rock and the grace of god.

If the above chart is any indication, Americans have been feeling pretty escapist— reminiscing about the old days and listening to classic rock, trying to pacify their children with the sounds of Princess Elsa, or trying to pacify themselves with Christian pop or Bob Marley.

James Taylor's 17th studio album American Standard remains at the top of the chart this month, followed again by Pearl Jam's new album Gigaton.  The Frozen 2 soundtrack is still climbing the ranks, along with Bob Marley's 1984 compilation album Legend. Fleetwood Mac's 1977 album Rumours is new to the top ten this year, coming in at number three.

Billie Eilish's critically acclaimed 2019 debut When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? continues to rise among Amazon's best-selling vinyl and CDs, while Joe Exotic's novelty hit I Saw A Tiger dropped down to 26 from 12 last month.

About the Data:

Thinknum tracks companies using the information they post online - jobs, social and web traffic, product sales, and app ratings - and creates data sets that measure factors like hiring, revenue, and foot traffic. Data sets may not be fully comprehensive (they only account for what is available on the web), but they can be used to gauge performance factors like staffing and sales.
