Workplace culture is changing: more people are working remote and from home than ever before. Many futurists insist that the future office will look more like a Slack channel than a cubicle farm.
The world's largest companies appear to be getting on board, too.
Since 2018, the number of remote job listings at 763 of the biggest employers have more than doubled since January 1, 2018. At the end of March, 1,330 positions were listed with the term "Remote" in their titles. On January 2, 2018, that total was just 529.
Technology and Healthcare companies are leading the charge when it comes to hiring. This is likely due to the fact that technologists - programmers, coders, and the like - are high in demand and command work-from-home privileges. Meanwhile, healthcare companies have hired remote workers for decades, from field representatives to remote customer service specialists.

Since 2018, technology giant Dell listed the most cumulative remote listings, followed by health-insurance company Anthem, Inc. Software companies Guidewire, Red Hat, and Veeva (a cloud-computing company) round out the top remote hirers among companies that we track.
When it comes to the most-common positions, sales positions were common, along with insurance adjusters and even health coaches.

Remote positions have been somewhat common since the dawn of corporate America. The traveling salesman is an icon of the early days of hustling for a paycheck.
But things are changing: technology companies are hiring remote programmers, health companies are hiring remote customer-facing consultant, and software companies are bringing on thousands of sales reps to move the needle.
One thing is certainly clear from this data: the remote office is growing, and it's clearly in our futures.
