In late February, Google ($GOOG) launched "Developer Space @ Google Singapore", a 7,200 square foot workspace for technologists. And, just around the same time (and somewhat predictably), the company launched a hiring spree in the area.
On February 19, 2019 — just days before Google formally launched its new hub — jobs in Singapore jumped 15% in just a week. That marks the largest jump in Google Singapore openings in months, if not ever.
Previous to the launch of Developer Space, Google also announced that it would built a third data center in Singapore to supports its Southeast Asia expansions.
Singaporean openings for Google have run the gamut of various skillsets. However, in the past quarter, the number of positions in a financial capacity swelled, perhaps due to rising operating costs and auditing for the company's rapid expansion in the region.
Four "Financial Analyst" positions recently appeared, one each for various Google business units including Media Incentive, Customer Solutions, Platforms and Ecosystems, and Customer Solutions.

Singapore is rapidly becoming a massive growth zone for data centers given the thriving local economy, talent pool, and ideal Southeast Asia location that's also a convergence point for submarine data cables. In 2018, Facebook announced it would build a massive $1 billion data center in the area.
