E3 2019 came and went, but something just feels different. Sony ($SNE) and several other big names in gaming — Snap Inc. Games anyone? — weren't there, attendance was reportedly down, and journalists at the scene felt like something was off.

Even Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft's Xbox ($MSFT), wasn't feeling the vibe down in SoCal, explicitely stating that, "I wish Sony was here."

But, the show must go on, and plenty of new games were shown there. Out of the companies that had a booth presence at the event, here's who won at E3 2019:

A split decision on GameStop, Amazon

We track sales rank data for Amazon ($AMZN), one of the biggest e-commerce websites for video games, and GameStop ($GME), which is falling under hard times as of late, but is still a frequent exclusivity partner for collector's editons of popular games.

At GameStop, Cyberpunk 2077, an action role-playing game (RPG) made by CD Projekt Red ($PRIVATE:CDPROJEKTRED), not only beat out all other games announced at E3, it even toppled the perennial powerhouses known as gift cards. According to aggregated sales rank data from June 10 (the day it debuted on Gamestop's website) to June 14, Cyberpunk 2077 held the #1 and #3 spots in aggregated sales-rank for its PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Collectors Edition packs respectively. And, further down the list, its standard editions put in work too.

Yes, not even the return of Cloud for Square Enix's ($PRIVATE:SQUAREENIX) Final Fantasy VII remaster, nor Microsoft's much-anticipated Gears of War, nor the Nintendo ($TYO:7974) heavy hitters came close to how much Cyberpunk dominated the sales charts...

But that's only on GameStop.

Meanwhile on AmazonFinal Fantasy VII Remake Deluxe Edition dominated the sales-rank chart, topping the always-dangerous $10 PSN gift card. As for Cyberpunk 2077, its first reference on the sales rank charts is far below that of even old games, such as last September's killer app Spider-Man.

Is this a sign that Cyberpunk 2077 or Final Fantasy VII will be the best-selling game of 2019? Not neccesarily; the pre-orders just went up today, and many games, such as Nintendo's new Fire Emblem game, were on the market for much longer with a consistant sales rank.

Wait, wasn't Cyberpunk 2077 a big deal last year?

Yep, and it's gone back-to-back.

Last year, we pointed out that Cyberpunk 2077's launch trailer had the most views out of all the new E3 titles, clocking in at 12 million views with a ridiculously high like to dislike ratio.

Now, it seems the hype has carried over, especially with the inclusion of Keanu Reeves, who many felt ran away with the convention. It also says something about the state of this year's event; the biggest titles that made waves were already announced last year — don't get gamers started on how delayed the Final Fantasy VII remake was — and and we'll just have to wait until the fall — or even 2020 — to see if they pack any punch.
