This year, Macy's ($M) is stationing 7 barges along New York City's East River for a fireworks display that's sure to be impressive as always. Millions will watch from rooftops, parks, and on television via NBC.

According to Macy's, this year's fireworks display will be the biggest yet, at least by the numbers. And we love numbers here at Thinknum Media. This year's display will feature 20 new shells & effects, 3,000 shells & effects in total, and will be blasted in 25 colors. It took 8,000 hours to plan, 50 pyrotechnicians, and the display will be 3-times higher than the Statue of Liberty, with a peak of 1,000 feet.

Macy's is a New York institution. Founded in 1858 by Rowland Macy, there are now 768 Macy's according to data we track at Thinknum.

Macy's locations tend to be in urban, higher-income areas, as one may expect. So far, Macy's stock has had a great year, with its price doubling since last fall.

Hiring activity at the company has been relatively healthy as well.
