Apple ($AAPL) announced today that it would be spending $1 billion to open a new campus in Austin, Texas. The new campus will spread across 133 acres and will make Apple Austin's largest employer. In fact, the new campus will house up to 15,000 people.

But Apple's already been hiring in Austin, especially in the latter half of 2018. In fact, hiring for the company in Austin is up 76% since August based on number of job listings at Apple's own careers site.

In mid-August, Apple had 153 openings in Austin. Today, it lists 269 such openings. That's an increase of 76%, and if you look at the number of daily openings between then and now, a clear pattern of uptick in hiring emerges.

As for the type of talent Apple is busy recruiting in Austin, the marjority are for the company's Hardware (76) and Software and Services (74) groups, followed by Corporate Functions (52).
