When it comes to the movies people bought on Amazon ($AMZN) in the month of May, 90s sitcom Friends reigned supreme. "Friends: The Complete Series Collection" held an average rank of 9.8 out of 100 in Amazon's Movies & TV category throughout the month, ranking for a full 28 days. The sales spree came just as Netflix lost the license to the show to streaming upstart HBO Max.

A close second was "Birds of Prey", a new entrant based on Joker ex Harley Quinn and starring Margot Robbie with directing duties by Cathy Yan. The all-women cast-and-crew movie has been a hot seller on Amazon, even after pulling a healthy $202 million in the box office. In May, it averaged a sales rank of just 10.1 out of 100 for at least 28 days.
Other top-10 sellers at Amazon in May included "Sonic The Hedgehog", which pulled a 10.6 average sales rank across 28 days. "Top Gun" also made an appearance with an average rank of 18.5 for 24 days, likely in anticipation of the upcoming sequel, "Top Gun Maverick" which, if theaters are open by then, is slated for a holiday 2020 release.
